Landscape Gardening Guildford:

Brief: The area that we were concentrating on was at the top of the garden, the land was laid to a rough sloping lawn which ran down towards the house.

The brief was to create a garden space with a romantic feel to it, with paths running through so that there was easy access to the flowerbeds and borders. There were to be areas for sitting in at different points around the garden in order to open up various vistas. There were to be two main sight lines into the garden, one from the house, so that the garden could be enjoyed visually from the house. The second was from the summerhouse which was at one end of the area. The planting was to be mainly herbaceous, but with pockets of roses and ferns, ultimately it had to have structure and interest over the winter period. All this on the chalky slopes of Guildford.
